Image
Last weekend produced twenty goals in ten games and Sunderland recorded the biggest win with a 3-0 win over Hull City, while the London derby between Tottenham and West Ham produced the most goals with five. Surprisingly, the league’s highest scoring team, Liverpool, were involved in the weekend’s only goalless game as they played out a 0-0 draw with Southampton. Chelsea continued their winning streak with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough and also made it six consecutive games without conceding, while the heavyweight clash of the weekend between Manchester United and Arsenal was sort of an anti-climax and ended 1-1. This weekend will witness a big London derby, when league leaders Chelsea host fifth placed Tottenham, who are just four points behind the blues in what should be a cracker this evening at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have been on an incredible run of form after suffering consecutive defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal in September, since then they have reeled out six consecutive ...

Jose Mourinho attacks his players Chris Smalling & Luke Shaw for refusing to play Nov 7 , 2016 • By Tunde

Image
Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has publicly criticized his defenders Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw after they pulled out on the match against Swansea on Sunday because they didn ’t feel 100 % fit to play the game . According to Mourinho, he had to make do with a second choice defensive line up (Phil Jones and Mattheo Darmian as center back and left back respectively) . He stated that the two players have betrayed Man United ’s culture by not playing through the pain for the club , insinuating that his players should be prepared to play through the pain for the sake of their shirt . “ I have a friend who is a big tennis player and he tells me when he remembered more the times he plays with pain than the times he plays without pain ,” Mourinho said to MUTV . To compete you have to go to the limit . It is cultural for some – and that is not my culture. More than me , it is Man United . “ We have players with problems . At every sport – and I know because I have friends in othe...

2 Players Mourinho Is Unhappy With Despite Swansea Victory

Despite an all too important 3-1 victory over Swansea on Sunday, Manchester United head coach, Jose Mourinho is not pleased with everyone in his team. With Eric Bailly out injured, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling could not recover in time to make the match, leaving Mourinho with Rojo and Phil Jones. He seemed to take a swipe at Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling in his post-match conference . “I have a friend who is a big tennis player and he tells me when he remembered more the times he plays with pain than the times he plays without pain,” Mourinho said. “To compete you have to go to the limit. It is cultural for some – and that is not my culture. More than me, it is Man United. “We have players with problems. At every sport – and I know because I have friends in others sports and they play at the highest level in their sport, and how many times they play when you are not 100 per cent.”

Why mobile money has not been widely accepted, by experts By Uchenna Ezeh | 06 November 2016 | 2:28 am

Image
Since the introduction of Mobile Money in Nigeria over five years ago, Nigerians have been skeptical about the safety of their monies in the payment system, which explains why it has not been generally accepted in the country, with analysts putting it’s penetration level at one percent. Following this low patronage, experts have identified lack of adequate communication, as one key reason why the scheme is still down. They made this known during the fourth annual ‘Brand and Marketing Conference’ of Brand Journalists’ Association of Nigeria (BJAN), themed ‘Mobile Money in Nigeria,’ held in Lagos, on Friday. Moderator of the panel and Vice Chairman, Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, hinted on the need for licensed Mobile Money operators to ensure that “we get to a stage where we have a Mobile Money kiosk located in every street,” especially in the rural areas because they need it more than those in the urban centres. Corroborating him, Emeka Op...

What US election outcome will mean for climate, energy

Image
You haven’t heard it much in the media, but this election is likely to have large consequences for how the United States, and perhaps the world, addresses climate change. And that is simply because the candidates’ positions contrast sharply on the matter, and because the world has begun an ambitious emissions reduction regime under the Paris climate accord that only one of the candidates wants to continue. Donald Trump, in an interview with the Washington Post ’s editorial board in March, said he is “ not a big believer in man-made climate change .” And Trump has said that, if elected, he would “cancel” the Paris Climate Agreement – which enters into force on Friday, Nov 4. He has also stood up strongly for the U.S. fossil fuel industries, and especially the struggling coal sector. Hillary Clinton, by contrast, wants to continue and extend Obama’s climate policies, including striving to reach the U.S.’s Paris Agreement target of cutting the country’s greenhouse gas emissions by 26...

The United boss said: “Schweinsteiger is back, we made that decision last Thursday, we informed him on the Friday. “It is a decision based on the fact we are in a period of the season where it is difficult to train everyone together. “The tactical work I like to do, I need to have 23, 24 players. Does the best coach always rule? by Sunday Oliseh 20/10/2016, 00:56

Is Being the Best coach With the Best Philosophy Enough To Rule? When Pep Guardiola was coach of Barcelona, a spell that lasted four years, Barcelona were near unbeatable, winning 14 Trophies in a four-year period. It was a period when Barcelona tormented opponents with not only mesmerizing passing and combination football, but also individual prowess from the likes of Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o, Andreas Iniesta, Xavi and Puyol to name just a few. On Wednesday night the world was tuned in to watch Barcelona, now managed by Luis Enrique, trade tackles with Manchester City, now managed by Pep Guardiola, in an important Uefa Champions League encounter. With both teams playing Tiki-taka football at times due to the coaching philosophies of Guardiola on one hand and Barcelona as a club on the other, you would be excused, if at times, you were confused as to who was who. Luis Enrique is definitely in the class of one of the best coaches in the world and his touches were all over this ...

However, after returning to full fitness, the South Africa international claims he is ready to battle it out with experienced duo Dean Furman and Renilwe Letsholonyane for a spot in midfield and ultimately re-enter the fold of Shakes Mashaba's Bafana Bafana set-up. "I'm working extremely hard for my club with the hope that I impress the national coach," he told KickOff. "I feel I have a lot to offer the team as I haven't really featured prominently. That's my goal - to wear the national jersey again with pride." Alexander has played 140 games in the Premiership since graduating from...

November has not been the kindest month for Arsenal in recent seasons and while their schedule over the next four weeks offers plenty of opportunity to slip up again manager Arsene Wenger is determined to keep his players focused on the present. Arsenal have taken an average of 1.59 points per November Premier League match during Wenger's 20-year tenure at the club, the worst of any month, according to British media. Arsenal trail leaders Manchester City only on goal difference but face testing fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the league this month. "We had some difficult Novembers but also positive ones. The most important thing is not to live in the past," Wenger said. "You have to live with the team you have at the moment. Our destiny lies in the mind of the players: how strongly they are focused, how hungry they are in every single game. "We have very important games in front of us. The best way for us is to try and win and co...
